History |
The Costco Scholarship Fund was established in Seattle in 2000. In
the first year, the Costco Scholarship Breakfast raised $1.2 million for
students attending the University of Washington and Seattle University.
In 2007, $2.8 million was raised, bringing the total to more than $15
million to date.
The District of Columbia program will benefit D.C. students who
attend the universities of their choice. Costco is underwriting the event,
allowing every dollar raised to go toward college scholarships. The
District of Columbia College Success Foundation is serving as the fiscal
agent and oversees the event.

Audience |
We would like to invite all the universities in the greater metro area, the
business, philanthropic, foundation and legal communities, along with
participants in the Double the Numbers Initiative.

|
Beneficiaries |
Any 501(c)(3) scholarship provider in the D.C. area can benefit.
Qualifying students must be a graduate of a D.C. high school, be enrolled
in a four-year college and be eligible for a college Pell grant. This event
will not replace existing scholarship fundraisers; it will supplement
those endeavors.
